The New Muckleshoot Tribal School opened Fall 2009 and it provides instruction for students from Kindergarten through Twelfth grade. Curriculum integrates cultural methods and understandings into the Essential Academic Learning Requirements as developed by Washington's Commission on Student Learning. Students are instructed daily in the core curriculum areas of Reading/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. Elementary students have the opportunity for Physical Fitness/Health, Technology, Native Language, Native Culture and Art classes. Secondary students have these opportunities along with Athletics, Vocational and Occupational programs designed to bridge academic learning to career skills. Special Services are available for students with special needs, utilizing an inclusion model throughout several programs and/or classes. Consultants for Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Psychology are available for students requiring these services. Students that demonstrate above average potential in academics, creativity, leadership and/or the performing arts may qualify for additional services through the Gifted and Talented program.
